My Name's Amnesia...Don't Forget it! *wink*
Amnesia is currently the host of a delightful homemade weekly vlog for GenderFun.com a fun interactive website.
Amnesia Sparkles made a flamboyant leap into America's homes during the first season of American Idol, five years after winning her first Drag Queen pageant and having numerous stage performances under her sparkling belt. Not only has Amnesia graced America’s TV screens via the WB, FOX, LOGO, and HERE TV, she also sprinkled her talents in John Cameron Mitchell's film "Short Bus." As a contributing writer for Next Magazine, one of New York's biggest guides to LGBT nightlife, Amnesia interviewed celebrities such as Dolly Parton, Kevin Aviance, and Jim Verraros to name a few sparkling personalities! Whether in print, on stage, or on screen Amnesia’s mission is to erase people's worries (if only for a few minutes) and to make your inner self sparkle with joy. "I'm all about LOVE: spreading it like an infectious disease."
Amnesia Sparkles is most popularly known for her appearance in the first season of Fox's hit television show American Idol, an ordeal that haunts her to this very day ;-)
When Nigel Lythgoe (Executive Producer/Director of American Idol),was asked what was the funniest thing he had seen on the show he replied "For me, was when Amnesia Sparkles came back in and gave Simon a letter in Miami" footage you can find on show's DVD American Idol: The Search For A SuperStar, which ranked #1 among TV-source releases (TV source releases includes all TV shows released to DVD) during its first and second week of release.
Amnesia has interviewed celebrities such as Dolly Parton, Kevin Aviance, and Jim Verraros, as a contributing writer for Next Magazine, one of New York's biggest guides to LGBT nightlife. In the spirit of Paris Hilton, Amnesia has mingled at parties with gay royalty such as Rupaul, Lady Bunny, Charles Busch, a member or two of the fabulous Queer Eye for the Straight Guy quintet, the self-proclaimed queen of all media Perez Hilton, and the world's #1 Gay Comedy Podcasters "The Feast of Fools."
In 2005 Amnesia participated in John Cameron Mitchell's film "Short Bus" as well as stared in the TV Pilot for "Eddie's Happy Hour" and has been seen across America on TV networks such as Fox, WB, Logo, and Here TV.
She holds the distinguished title of being the first to win the Miss HERcules pageant (formerly Miss Thang) in 1997 and recently Amnesia was nominated for several Next Magazine awards including "Most Improved Drag Queen" only to be defeated by Bruce Vilanch.
Amnesia Sparkles is an inspiration having survived a six year romance (on and off) with an illegal alien who was eventually "deported," as well as battling depression, anorexia, self-diagnosed chronic fatigue syndrome, Chlamydia, low blood pressure, dizzy spells, some allergies, blue eyeshadow, and maybe a slight case of hypochondria.
Her message is one of hope, understanding and love, mixed with great fashion sense and sparkling humor.
"I'm all about 'LOVE': spreading it like an infectious disease."
Her mission: To erase people's worries (if only for a few minutes) and to make your inner self sparkle with joy...but she'll basically do anything for a buck these days.
Amnesia is looking forward to partner with such organizations as PFLAG, GLAAD as well as raise funds and awareness regarding HIV and AIDS.
