Scott Pilgrim vs ADHD!!!
Last night after getting our monthly dose of mercury via all-u-can-eat sushi we spent some hard earned green on Scott Pilgrim vs The World. This wasn't our first pick, but since the theater near the sushi restaurant wasn't playing Toy Story 3 (we love Pixar) we settled for some geeky white guy falling in love with a girl that is totally out of his league.
We are usually not a big fan of
a) the boy meets girl story line
b) films with ultra-violence
c) a packed theater that feels the need to boo when they see M. Night Shyamalan's name during the preview for his new movie "Devil"
Apparently we had signed up to all three. The things we do for our dates.
In short "Scott Pilgrim" (Michael Cera) is a 22 year old bassist hipster in Toronto who falls in love with Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead). In order to be with her, he'll have to defeat her seven evil exes in battle.
Simple right? Well, what Hollywood did with this typical story line is turned it into an acid trip for the ADHD ridden. It was way fun!!
- Sweet fights
- One of the coolest gay characters in a movie since...
- Dry humor
- So much editing and graphics that your head will explode
- and ... sweet fights.
If you've ever felt like an underdog then I think you'll enjoy Scott Pilgrim vs The World
